疑似感染肺結核?
WHAT DOES A POSITIVE TB(tuberculosis) TEST MEAN?
A positive TB Skin test means that at some time you were exposed to and infected by the germ that cause TB. This does not mean that you actually have TB, but it does indicate that you are at rick of having or developing TB disease at some time in the future. However, if you have not been ill, and you are feeling well today, you can be quiet confident that you do not have active TB disease.

AM I CONTAGIOUS? CAN I SPREAD THE GERM TO OTHERS?
People with positive TB skin test usually are not ill and are not contagious. Only someone who has the active TB disease can spread the germs to others. The chest X-ray will show if you have the active TB disease or not. That is why a chest X-ray is important.

CAN I ATTEND SCHOOL OR GO TO WORK?
You can continue your normal routine as long as you are in good health. School age childen who have a chest X-ray that the doctor says is normal will NOT be excluded from school. Students who are not able to get a chest X-ray right away, may be conditionally admitted pending the results of the X-ray in accordance with school policy. (So, that's way I was asked if I am pregnant...@@)

CAN ANYTHING ELSE HAVE CAUSES MY TB SKIN TEST TO BE POSITIVE?
Allergies, other medication, rubbing or scratching the site will NOT cause a positive reaction of the test.

SHOULD I TAKE ANOTHER TB SKIN TEST?
Once your test is positive you will always have a reaction even after being treated with medications. From now on, whenever you need to have a TB skin test again, go for a chest X-ray as often as your doctor advises.

WHY DO I NEED A CHEST X-RAY?
Most active TB disease occurs in the lungs. The chest X-ray will show if the TB germs have done any harm to your lungs.

WHAT MAY HAPPEN AFTER THE CHEST X-RAY IS DONE?
If you not have any sign of active TB disease from the chest X-ray, you may be advised to take a preventive (INH) to make sure that your infection does not become active at some time in your life.

BCG Vaccine(卡界苗), Positive Skin Test, and INH
Many people from outside the US have received BCG vaccine as a vaccine against TB. Often they have been told that the vaccine would cause a positive skin test and that they would never get active TB. Protection from BCG diminishes over the passage of time, and although BCG has been showed effective in children, it has not been proven to be effective in adults. In addition, there has beem great variation worldwide in the effectiveness of the vaccine, even in children. While BCG may possibly cause a positive skin test, especially if the vaccine has been given within the last yeat, a positive PPD of >20mm will not be due to BCG. Current recommendations for medical personnel are to ignore the history of BCG in interpreting the PPD results.

Medication for Preventing TB
An antibiotic called isoniazid (or INH) can be taken once daily for 9 months and will diminish the likelihood of developing active TB. Most people have no side effects when taking this medicine.
